MORGAN CARTER
Instructional Leadership Coach
As a math coach for the Leap program, Morgan supports schools implementing Leap’s math curriculum and helping students reach their potential as mathematicians. Morgan is in her 17th year in education and has worn many hats throughout this time, including elementary teacher, Academic Dean, Dean of School Culture, founding principal, principal mentor, and mathematics educational consultant. She believes deeply that every child has unlimited potential and deserves equitable access to rigorous, grade-level instruction. She was the founding principal of Achievement First Providence Academy Elementary School in Rhode Island for five years where her school achieved “Commended School” status, and then she transitioned to her most recent role as a mathematics instructional leadership coach.
Over the past four and a half years, she has supported leaders in schools across the country as a mathematics instructional leadership coach, partnering with these leaders to build their people leadership and instructional leadership toolkits. In this work, she has supported schools she partners with in achieving up to +55 point year-over-year gains on their state math assessment. Morgan values building strong, trusting relationships and working alongside leaders as a partner to make meaningful change aligned to their school’s identity, mission and vision. Morgan currently lives in Rhode Island with her wife and rambunctious almost-two-year-old son and enjoys finding new hiking spots and experiencing the delicious Providence food scene.
